The Nord Piano is a dedicated stage piano with 88 keys and a weighted hammer action. It is designed with the performing musician in mind and very lightweight at approx. 18 kg (39.6 lbs), without compromising build quality, sound quality or means of expression. As all the other Nord units, it is designed with a firm focus on extremely fast response and accessibility of every important function from the panel. With a well designed user interface, it doesn't matter if you want to prepare your settings in advance and save them for later use, or if you'd rather set the sounds and effects as you go along - the Nord Piano delivers in both these aspects. There are plenty of memory locations in a bank/program configuration to provide you with a quick access from the panel, to your favorite sounds. You can quickly adjust the velocity response to suit your playing style with a dedicated control on the panel. A Key Transpose setting are equally adjustable, by either saving a transpose setting to your program or by setting a transposition value in real time from the panel.

Yamaha makes portable digital drums available to more aspiring drummers with the release of the DD-45. Designed from a drummer's perspective, the new model features four touch-sensitive pads and an AUX input for playing along with your favorite recordings on an MP3 player. "It has been a number of years since Yamaha was in the entry-level digital drum market," says Dane Madsen, marketing manager, Yamaha Digital Keyboards. "But with the popularity of video games like Rock Band, more and more customers will be ready to test their skills on a real musical instrument. When they realize the limitations of the gaming drum pads, the DD-45 will be their next logical step." The Magic Tom feature lets users select from different Magic Tom fill sequences and perform multi-tom fills all on a single pad while they keep the beat going on the other three pads. Built-in auto-accompaniment patterns give you dozens of virtual bands to play along with. Recorded drum parts within the patterns can be muted so users can test their skills. The tempo of patterns can also be adjusted so users can begin practicing slow, then play faster as they improve - an important practice technique not available via MP3 players.
